Google Analytics is a very useful tool. Especially, for small businesses wanting to review their website audience needs, characteristics, and purchasing behavior. It’s important to know this information for analyzing and improving your website marketing strategy, as well as improving customer service.

So what is Google Analytics you ask? Google Analytics is a website analytics and reporting service offered by the #1 Internet giant Google and is used across many websites to track the path of website visitors and measures conversions and sales. This website statistic service is free for the basic service and also has a premium version for a fee.

This reporting service shows you in detail how your customers found your website in regards to what search keywords they used, or if they were referred by other sources such as your social media outlets like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. It allows you to measure your web marketing efforts and sales processes to see what’s working and what’s not. Here are three features of Google Analytics that can help you analyze your visitors traffic path to purchase.

#1. Geo

The Geo feature is listed under the Audience section on the analytics reporting dashboard. This geo feature allows you to see where your traffic is coming from. It shows if your visitors are local or if they are located across the world. It also shows you what language your visitor may speak.

#2. Technology & Mobile

The Technology and Mobile feature is listed under the Audience section on the analytics reporting dashboard. This cool feature allows you to see what Internet browser your visitors are using, whether it be Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, Chrome or other browsers. And if you are interested in this data, it also lists what network your visitors are using such as AT&T Internet services as well as what device or mobile device was used for viewing.

#3. Users Flow

The Users Flow feature is under the Audience section on the analytics reporting dashboard. This feature allows you to see your visitors flow of traffic throughout your website. You can see what pages interested them the most, kept them engaged, and where they exited your website. This will help you to see what product pages or service pages are ranking high or low in regards to your sales and conversions.

In order to use Google Analytics, you must have a website and a Google account to access the website tracking id and code needed to generate your statistics data. If you are not familiar with the process or are uncomfortable, contact us and we can help implement the service for you and add the tracking id and code into your current website design.

So if you haven’t already, take a look at this handy website analytics tool (Google Analytics) to help you improve your website marketing if needed and track your visitors path to purchase.
